Fine Art and Projects

A place for my fine art and other projects

A little about this page:

Here is where you will find much of my fine art work.  I work with the human figure for many of my projects as I've always found the human body to be beautifully magical.  My work is created with an artistic perspective that uses the elegant flow of curves, the gentle strength of the body, and the creative use of light and shadow.

Here, you'll also find the projects that I'm currently working on.  These range from fine art series to coffee table books.  Not all projects will have samples for you to view, but there is a description with each of the projects listed here.  If you have an interest in taking part in any of my projects, or have an idea of your own you'd like to work with me on, please contact me here.

A little about modeling:

Some of my projects require specific looks or body types, however for most of my projects I work with all types of women, all cultures, all body types.  Don't hesitate to ask to be part of a project even if you don't think you look ideal.  This is art.  The ideal for my artwork is that you are looking to be part of something creative.

I work with professional models at times, but I absolutely love working with new models!  If you have no experience modeling don't worry.  I'm patient with my models and I'll help you throughout the shoot.

You will always be treated with respect.  I understand that modeling, let alone nude modeling, can be nerve-wracking for many women.  I make sure that you're comfortable at every point of our shoot.  If I need to touch you for any reason (move your hair, fabric, adjust your pose, etc.), I will explain and ask for permission.

You will need to sign a modeling release.  This is a standard release form that basically shows that you acknowledge the type of shoot you're modeling for, what the photos are being used for, and that the photographer (me) maintains the rights to the images.  Compensation can vary between models, but typically models are given a set number of digital photos or prints from the shoot.  It is important to note that no model is ever given permission to sell or alter these images or prints in any way without my written consent.  As you read through the release, I will happily answer any questions that come up.

"I Am..."

"I Am..."

The idea:

This project is simple but deeply meaningful.  It consists of two different photos.  The first photo is you, and how you present yourself to the world, or how you believe the world views you.  You wear whatever you want, whatever you normally would wear on a typical out and about day.  This is the you the world sees.  The second photo is the stripped down, no barriers version of you.  You are nude (though you can be posed in a way so nothing shows if you are uncomfortable with nudity) to show the vulnerability of this version of you.  A brief phrase will be written on your body that states who you are on the deepest of levels.

No, you don't get to make up whatever you want to have written on you.  To come up with the real you, I will walk you through a mental exercise that will uncover the deepest and truest part of yourself, and that is what we will use as your phrase.  This is a very personal and emotional shoot.  We've already experienced tears and laughter (tears of joy and love, don't worry) because of how true this process and shoot is.  The mental exercise is kept secret until you are experiencing it so that we are able to truly reach your true self.  We also ask each person taking part in this shoot to not talk about the shoot or the process with anyone not directly involved with the project.

How it's used:

Ultimately, these photos will be used in a printed coffee table book.  Until that point, the only other possibility of use is as part of a gallery showcase display.  There are no current plans to use any of the images online, but I do reserve the right to do so if I decide to showcase the project digitally.

Fog Series:

This series of fine art photography is one of my all time favorites.  The use of fog with my art creates a sense of wonder that isn't often found in fine art work.  It brings some mystery along with a mystical magic to the image.  The lighting that I use is typically focused more on the fog so that the fog illuminates the edges of the body, but I do switch it up a bit when I feel the urge.

Model for this series:

Interested in modeling for this series?  You must be comfortable with nudity.  Although we can hide most parts of your body with shadow, this limits the poses and lighting we can use quite a bit.  Currently, I'm really looking for athletic models as I want to contrast the strength and muscle of the body with the abstract softness of the fog.  However, all body types are welcome to participate.

You should also be aware that I do ask for a $50 retainer to model for this series as I must purchase dry ice for the shoot.  The $50 will be reimbursed to you at the conclusion of our photoshoot.

Please contact me here for additional info or to book a shoot.

Adding just a touch of color

Color Series:

Fine art images, not always with a model, that are entirely black and white with the exception of one detail in the image.  The colored detail of the image will typically be one color, and may range from a piece of jewelry to a flower or piece of fabric.  Many of these images are a close up of part of a body, but it may vary, especially if I decide to include some shots of a model in nature for this series.

This series is just getting started, so if you'd like to be among the first to model for it, please contact me here.

Other Fine Art

Other Fine Art

Fine Art:

Fine Art is a very subtle form of photography.  The subject can be a very large variety of different things, but in my case, I tend to stick with the female form...sometimes flowers.  I love working in nature with a nude model.  Allowing the model to embrace her own freedom surrounded by the tranquility and vastness of nature is such a beautiful portrayal of God's creations in their true form.

I also love playing with light.  I'll use shadow and light to accent certain lines of a model's body to create a wonderfully abstract form of art.

Be a Fine Art Model:

I've worked with models of all levels of experience for my fine art, and they all have their own strengths.  One common strength that seems to be extremely beneficial is a background in dance.  I consistently hear from my models that their fine art sessions are their favorites.  There's something freeing when you're expressing your creative ability through your body, and even more-so when it's just you without the constraints of clothing.  Nearly all of the models I've worked with on a fine art photoshoot has returned to model for more.  I believe that speaks volumes about how you can expect to feel about the experience.
